International trade barriers will accelerate the transformation of the LED display industry.

During the recently held 10th International Smart Display and System Integration Exhibition (hereinafter referred to as "ISLE 2025"), a reporter from China Electronics News conducted an exclusive interview with Guan Jizhen, discussing the development trends and hot issues of the LED display industry. Guan Jizhen told the reporter that the national LED industry's output value was around 75 billion yuan in 2023 and is expected to approach 80 billion yuan in 2024. China has become the world's largest LED production base and consumer market, and is also a highland for technological innovation and diverse application scenarios.

Guan Jizhen believes that this year's ISLE reflects six industry development trends. First, LED displays are attracting more cross-industry enterprises to enter the market. Second, product forms and methods are constantly expanding. The exhibits at ISLE 2025 have expanded in form, display methods, and service scope, especially in the application innovations of new fields such as digital cinema, smart cities, and traffic command centers. Third, there is a clear trend of deep integration between artificial intelligence technology and LED display technology. Artificial intelligence technology is deeply integrated with LED display technology in aspects such as color reproduction, content enhancement, and display system control and transmission, further enhancing the intelligence level of LED display products. At the same time, new LED display products, scenarios, and applications based on artificial intelligence technology are also emerging. Fourth, the integration and intelligence of LED displays are becoming more obvious. Many products use integrated design technology, with control, drive, and core transmission systems integrated, further improving product reliability and standardization. In addition, the development trend of drive-control integration (where the functions of drive chips and control systems are replaced) is also quite obvious. Fifth, green, energy-saving, and environmental protection have become the main direction of industry development. Enterprises are paying more attention to the "low-carbon green" concept, and new low-carbon and energy-saving display products such as cold screens and energy-saving screens are constantly being introduced. Technologies such as material reuse are used to reduce display power consumption, and low-carbon or even zero-carbon solutions such as integrated photovoltaic display systems have been launched. Sixth, the commercialization of Micro/Mini-LED products is accelerating. With the commissioning of multiple landmark production lines in 2024, some enterprises have showcased Micro-LED prototype products. It can be predicted that Micro-LED will remain a hot topic in the industry for a long time.

Guan Jizhen predicts that changes in the international trade environment will also intensify domestic market competition, thereby reshaping the industry's competitive landscape. "As technology evolves to a mature stage, the competitive advantage formed by technological differentiation tends to weaken. At this point, non-technical competitive elements, such as brand value, resource accumulation, and market strategies, will become the key for enterprises to build core competitiveness," Guan Jizhen said.
